Race Weekend

This was the weekend of the "big race".   There was a fitness festival in our area.  Mario and the kids took part in the races.  Cecilia (5) ran the 100 meter dash.  Danny ran the 100 and 400 meter dashes.  Mario ran a half marathon.  I myself, am not a runner.  The kids loved running in their first races and have spent many an hour wearing their first medals!  I am so proud of all of them!

Ronald McDonald kicked off the festivities by meeting the kids followed by a dressing them alike in blue shirts, removing them from their parents and having them warm up for the races.  My kids were never out of my site (thankfully Mario had Karina under control) and I didn't see any tears or lost faces.

Next was the local mascot race.  Fun for the whole family!

Cecilia was called to the coral first.  The kids were broken down into small groups and were absolutely adorable!  Some were fine until they saw their parents - I was so proud that Cecilia not only wanted to run the race, but did it with a smile on her face.  She finished the race and was so very proud of herself!

After a while, it was Danny's turn for his races.  The older the kids the more competitive they became.  Danny also ran wonderfully.  He finished both of his races and was proud of himself as well.

Poor little sister got a little pouty that big brother had "two" medals and she only had one.  While there was only one "event" for her age group she didn't bite when we offered her another race!

Here is a closer view of my babies first running medals!

Here are my 3 runners - plus Karina.  Danny shared one of his medals with her - as you can see, she was thrilled to be included.  Karina will run in next year's fitness festival for sure!

 Way to go racers!

Tea Party!!

Being a Mom is a gift from God, no doubt.  Having both a son and daughters has, of coarse, also been a blessing.  Some things we do are more traditionally boy.  Today we are focusing on the girly things with which I am blessed.  I love dressing the girls up, I really love doing their hair every day - it is my toy!  Today it was an all girl morning complete with tea party!  After a rough night with Karina, I was in no rush to get out of my comfy pajamas and in no rush to get the girls dressed before we had to either.  Cecilia did all the work from the concept, clearing the table, dish and chair gathering, and of coarse the pouring.  Before the idea of the party was conceived, Karina fell asleep on the floor (because of her restless night) which allowed for some Mommy/Cecilia tea party alone time before we were joined by little sister.

Cecilia made a sign to announce the event. It was hung on the window above the tea party table.

Here is Miss. Cecilia serving Miss. Bear and Miss. Kitty.  Miss. Kitty doesn't like pink, I've been told, so we are sure to not offer Miss. Kitty the pink cup.

Here is Miss. Bear, dressed for the party and propped up on books so that she is at table height.
Karina awoke pleased as punch that big sister had set up a tea party.  Karina and Cecilia took turns pouring tea for their guests.  Karina also brought some corn on the cob and a peach slice (plastic of course) as a snack for all to share.

Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end.
